Whats Your Favorite Alcoholic Beverage?

Well, its Sunday afternoon and the bickering and rancor go on and on. Since it seems that nothing new is to be said until Tuesday Night I thought that maybe a diary in a different vein might be in order. My hero, Franklin Delano Roosevelt did more to help the common man and was a great leader during World War II. But did you also know that he campaigned on repealing Prohibition.On December 5th, 1933 the 21st Amendment became part of the Constitution. So here's a question to the MyDD bloggers, what is your favorite adult beverage if you do drink? I am basically a beer drinker. I like plain old Budweiser.Its American, its Union Made and its affordable. I like Old Grand Dad Bourbon once in a while. Whats your Favorite?

Single Malt Scotch preferably from Islay and the older the better.

Straight Crown Royal on the rocks is my drink of choice. I've never been able to stomach beer.

If you ever want to start liking beer (and I know that sounds weird), definitely start with the good stuff and work your way down. You just develop an appreciation for it after awhile. Unfortunately, I started at the bottom and worked my way up.

When I was a teenager we didnt have a lot of money and would buy quarter barrels of Pabst for about $10 dollars, that shows you how old I am. We used to pound out the wooden bung on the old type barrels and funnel the beer out because we couldnt afford to rent the tapper. It was a lot of fun.

Wow; that's pretty funny. We found a secluded park that the police didn't frequent and used to buy Miller Lite kegs (or whatever was cheap - which was sometimes Bud Lite or Coors) and play soccer or football with beer breaks. So much fun, unless you were the sober driver. But hey, you got to drink free when we all got home then so it wasn't an entirely bad deal. But it wasn't how I would recommend developing a beer appreciation.

If I'm in the area and feeling good, I'll stop by New Glarus, WI for some of their microbrews - especially Oufda. Otherwise, I'm always a fan of Corona and Miller Lite from my frat days, and Tequila is always welcome.

They have kind of this yuppie sounding beer named "Enigma" which is kind of a spicy, vanilla taste. It's delicious. I love that place; I'm like a kid in a candy shop.

I usually drink beer or wine. I love Stoudt's American Pale Ale, and Great Lakes Brewing Company's Burning River Pale Ale and Dortmunder Gold. I'm also a big fan of Mountaineer Brewing Company's Pale Ale. I tend to let other folks pick the wine, but I'll drink anything good and will try almost anything at least once. For a fun one with company, I like "Seven Deadly Zins." It's a nice blend, and the name is always good for a laugh. For white wine, I've been trying viognier lately.

I had all of the Great Lakes Beers. The Dortmunder Gold is great. The Conways Irish Ale should be out now if they still brew it. If you like a hoppy beer try Bells HopSlam if you can get. Its brewed in Michigan and its really hoppy tasting

Another great hoppy beer: Tupper's Hop Pocket. I think it's made in the D.C. area. That said: I'm worried about the world wide hop shortage! I wonder which candidate is prepared to address this potential disaster...

That is a good name; I love all the puns that the companies and bartenders come up with. We used to have a "Seven Deadly Sins" shot, and I can't really remember what was in it now that I think about it.

Hah. That sounds a bit scary, then. The same company also makes a "Seven Heavenly Chards" blend of chardonnays, but it's not nearly as compelling a name.
